Maynard, Ma - So. Forward David Alvarez scored the game winning goal with 12:39 remaining when a Maynard defender mishandled the ball and Alvarez stole the ball and walked in on Maynard Keeper Matt Lugwig and placed it past him. GD's Jeremy Keast opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Sr. Will Zinkann blasted a shot that was re-directed to Keast and he calmly placed it in the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. GD gave up a penalty kick for a hand ball early in the 2nd stanza and Crusader Keeper Alex Newman saved the initial shot but the rebound was challenged by both teams and a second PK was called. Luke Caldicott converted the penalty and things were even at 1-1 until Alvarez's game winner in the 68th minute. Maynard drop to (5-3-1) overall and host Burncoat next. GD improve to (3-3-3) overall and travel to North Middlesex (5-4-1)Tuesday at 3:30pm for a Midland B league showdown. GD received great play from Alex Castallano, Zac ElMasri, Ian Maguire and Max Phanord.
