My Mother's Diary

I woke with sadness

As my mother's diary would say

Listened to Cash cover that song

Then listened to Rocky soundtracks

For an hour long

Walked out the door

When I could listen to no more

I took the long, green route to town

That takes me past

The ancient seat of a crown

Where by a woman I was noun

Dishboy she did me dub

As I was so handsome and servile

With the rub a dub dub

She did find me virile

But enjoyed me sub

Did enjoy to man handle me

In public

In the pub or the club

Later I sat in a bar

That was once a late night garage

To which a taxi

Had carried me for French Letters

So I would not beget with my betters

Walking on I found myself late

So caught a bus

From the university gate

All day long

The young women

Were shiny and new

And smiled at me like they knew

But I was blue

Because I wanted you

My Reiki healer

Thought friendship sounded just right

But with you I still want to spend the night

We discussed the dissaproving chorus

And how I had saved my words for you

Until it was just betweenus

She asked me to question my motives

I did, then said they were honest

All day I was haunted by shadows of the past

But by evening they had passed

Today was a testing time

But I came through just fine

If this is as tough as loving you gets

Then I should say you are a safe bet
