Men Without Plates

'John Pouvier thought about writing a Hemingway pastiche called "Men Without Plates" It got you that way, the putting vinegar on brown bread because you were too busy trying to write one true sentence to be able to wash a plate and a knife to make a slice of toast. The vinegar reminded you of your childhood and it made you want to laugh and sing. In the end though it was just your miserable batchelorhood caused by your worthless father. That and the fact that the council weren't repairing your boiler till Thursday.'
