Ethics of Uncertainty

The Ethics of Uncertainty

Dictate that one must

Judge every dilema with open eyes and an open heart

One must not commit crimes in the name of preconceptions

One must treat life with great ernestness

Yet one must always retain a sense of humour

And an ironic self regard

One must have as few certainties as one can manage and still be sane

I am certain that it is wrong to harm children

But what about children who harm children

What to do about the Bulger killers

Uncertainty re enters

One must be modest

And careful about throwing the first stone

But one cannot wait for God to save the weak

I will stop now

As I am not sure enough to say much more

We can be more sure of some things than others

All humans are capable of being buggers
