The hiragana words below are ruijiana airisu (Louisiana iris) for those who want to practice their calligraphy. The columns are read from right to left.
Here is a relatively simple sketch of a Louisiana iris blossom for practice.
Note that this iris has three levels of petals and sepals. In my painting guidance below, I refer to them as the center petals, middle layer, and outer petals. For an example of the warifude technique, refer to Lesson Module 12's passion fruit demonstration painting.
