Calligraphy

Here are some more practice strokes for those working on their calligraphy.

The kanji below is rindō (G. scabra).

Sketch

Here is a relatively simple sketch of rindō for practice.

The choice of rindō to go with Bashō's haiku is based partly on the fact that both chrysanthemums and rindō are autumn flowers. Besides, it is a flower that I've haven't done before.

My leaves were intended to be darker than they came out using nōboku (dark sumi). See if you can do better.

Here is another demonstration painting. The subject occurred to me when considering Bashō's haiku; especially the part about fragrance/incense burning. You shouldn't need guidance for this painting.
