I used highly sized paper for this painting. Though it wasn't originally my intention, I painted part of the camellias while the paper was still wet from my first strokes and ended up with a tarashikomi effect. Other areas of the painting are that way, too. It helped that I reduced the amount of sizing in the paper by applying water to some of the areas I painted on later. That can reduce the amount of sizing in the paper.
