This week's calligraphy for practice is longer than usual. It consists of three words. The first word in katakana is furamingo for flamingo. It occupies the entire right-hand column and the first character of the left-hand column. The hiragana character to in the middle of the left-hand column means "and." Finally, the kanji character at the bottom left is su for nest. This is the way that traditional Japanese is written: from top to bottom starting at the right and proceeding toward the left.
This relatively simple sketch of a flamingo with chick on a nest is for practice.
My flamingos tend to be a little fat. I see myself in my paintings.
