The characters below are Japanese for "panda and bamboo". The right column is katakana for "pa·n·da". The top character in the left column is hiragana "to" (and), and the kanji below that is "take" (bamboo). These are for those who want to practice their calligraphy.

The relative simple sketch of panda cubs below is for practice.
Step 6 calls for the use of kaiji-hō style bamboo leaves. There are different names for the style depending on the number of leaves being painted.
Kejigata (ケ字形) = 3 leaves
Kaijigata (介字形) = 4 leaves
Bunjikuzushi (分字くずし) = 5 leaves
Kaijigata (介字形) = 7 leaves
