Calligraphy, Sketches & Demonstration Painting

Calligraphy

The kanji word hatsuka daikon (radish) below is for those who want to practice their calligraphy.

Sketches

Here are some relatively simple sketches for practice. The first is of a turnip.

This next sketch is of a horseradish and a radish.

Demonstration Painting

My painting this week looks like it was done on grey paper. It wasn't. The paper was white. Unfortunately, when I scanned the painting in, the horseradish in the background came out so faint that I needed to enhance the image many times to get it to show up. The process had the unwanted side effect of darkening the appearance of the paper. I opted to go with this painting rather than try to experiment with another that would scan better.
