Calligraphy, Sketches & Demonstration Painting

Calligraphy

Here are some more strokes to practice before doing kanji calligraphy. This time, I've added guides.

Here are more kanji words for those who want to practice their calligraphy. The first word is tsukimi (moon viewing).

The next word is obana (pampas grass). Another word for Japanese pampas grass is susuki. It has a different kanji.

Finally, there is kanji for hagi (bush clover).

For those of you who prefer to use the Western alphabet, here is one calligraphy example. The name I have for it "pointed brush". There are many more fonts. Upper case (capital or majuscule) characters are first.

Next comes lower case (minuscule) characters.

Sketch

Here is a relatively simple sketch of pampas grass for practice.

Demonstration Painting

Normally, we write haiku after the painting is done, but I used a fude-pen which has permanent ink to write the haiku first.  This way I didn't worry about bleeding of ink or waiting for the painting to dry.

Make sure you put "句” (ku) after the poet's name, if you borrowed haiku.  You can still sign your name.
