Calligraphy, Sketches, & Demonstration Painting

Calligraphy

The Japanese words for kuzu (Japanese arrowroot) and ominaeshi (Patrinia scabiosifolia) are shown below for your calligraphy practice if you want. The first set for kuzu uses the phonetic katakana character set.

The kanji character set is used for ominaeshi below.

Sketches

The two sketches below are for relatively simple practice. The first is a pencil sketch of kuzu.

The next sketch in color is of ominaeshi.

Demonstration Painting

Here is my demonstration painting combining kuzu and ominaeshi in a single composition with a tenkei dragonfly. You may notice that there appears to be some banding on the upper-most kuzu leaves. This is an artifact of scanning paper that had wrinkles and not something I intended. This has happened before, but this time it was in an area that was too complex for me to easily fix it.
