Demonstration Art

From a landscape painting by Sesshū Tōyō (1420 - 1506). See Discussion.

Demonstration Painting -- Pagoda

Here is a sketch of a five-storied pagoda for you to practice on if you wish consisting almost entirely of senbyō-hō strokes. Note that three shades of sumi are used; nōboku (dark), chūboku (medium), and tanboku (light).

Here is my demonstration painting. The pagoda is the main subject of my painting, but a similar pagoda in a larger setting--or one in which it is a smaller part of the overall composition--can make it tankei.
