Calligraphy, Sketches & Demonstration Painting

The two kanui words below are for those who want to practice their calligraphy. The first word is senmen (fan shape).

he next kanji word is sensu (folding fan)

Sketches

Here are some relatively simple sketches of hiōgi (leopard lily) parts for practice

Demonstration Painting

The painting subject this week is anything you want on fan-shaped paper. Your choice. I opted to paint hiōgi (leopard lily), and my painting guides this week reflect that choice. When you paint your choice of subject, see of you can describe steps so that others may be able to use them to paint something similar.

The fan shape in my demonstration painting doesn't show up well because I had a problem with my scanner and had to go to Staples to do the scan. Unfortunately, I didn't bring any colored paper with me for the background to make the fan shape stand out, so the border of the painting doesn't show up well. I will fix that problem and replace the painting here as soon as I can. In the meantime, try to imagine the outline of a fan shape around the painting. My signature on the left is angled to match the border of the fan shape on that side.
