The kanji word below is hanamizuki (dogwood) for those who want to practice their calligraphy.
Here is a relatively simple sketch of dogwood leaves and blossoms for practice. My model for this sketch and my demonstration painting is Cornus florida, however bracts of that species do not have the strong pink tinge that I painted. The bracts of that species stay white. I have a source that showed pink bracts, but that may have been a hybrid.
I chose to use mokkotsu-hō (without lines) strokes for the bracts of my flowers, but it is okay to use senbyō-hō if you wish.
