The 3-word Japanese passage below is for those who want to practice their calligraphy. It is take (bamboo in kanji) to (and in hiragana) panda (panda in katakana).
In place of a regular sketch this week, here is a series of kaiji-hō; painted bamboo leaf examples. Each has its own name in Japanese associated with the number of leaves in the example. Note that all of the leaves angle or droop downward, a characteristic of kaiji-hō leaves.
