Badge Requirements

1. (SR-01) Understand in theory, how to launch liferafts or lifeboats

2. (SR-02) Demonstrate the ability to throw a lifebuoy correctly

3. (SR-03) Demonstrate the correct actions to take during a Man Overboard (MOB) situation

4. (SR-04) Observe the life-saving appliances (LSA) onboard a public ferry, list all LSA available, and present on their methods of use

5. (SR-05) Understand the difference between a lifejacket and a personal flotation device (PFD)

6. (SR-06) Demonstrate correct checking and proper donning of both the lifejacket and the PFD

7. (SR-07) Demonstrate the safe and correct use of a hand flare

8. (SR-08) Demonstrate two survival positions: the survival ring and the caterpillar position, including the following:

   1. • Demonstrate “kick water” while in the survival ring position

      • Demonstrate the synchronous swim (caterpillar) technique

      • Understand key points on how these positions aid survival during sea emergency
