Home Repair (Cub)

Complete any three sections:

1)     Demonstrate the safe use of tools and explain how to store and care for tools such as hammer, saw, screwdriver, spanner and pliers.

2)     Carry out one or more of the following: 

• Change a lightbulb

• Change a plug

• Fix a hem

• Fix a leaking tap.

• Repair a hole in a garment

• Sew on a button

• Tighten a screw.

• Unclog a sink or toilet

3)     Demonstrate how to prepare and paint a surface with a paintbrush, roller or pad. (eg. door, shelf, doorframe, wall, piece of furniture etc. Show how to clean up afterwards. 

4)     Design and construct any one of the following:

• A DIY piece of furniture, put together primarily on your own, or with a little help.

• A book ends or a bookshelf

• A box for storing tools, pencils, tape, etc

• A functional wooden item made from recycled wood, eg pallets, driftwood etc

• A nesting box or a planting tub

• A noticeboard

• A hook rack for hanging keys, mugs, jackets etc

• A shoe rack

• A towel rail or any other small bathroom accessory

• A tray for holding letters
