Choose any FOUR of the following activities:
Make a model or draw a diagram of the solar system.
Explain the difference between a star and a planet.
Identify and draw at least FIVE constellations, and in a darkened room, show the other Cub Scouts in your pack the five constellations using a star box you have made.
Make a working model of an astrolabe. Explain to your Leader how it is used.
Join an astronomy or stargazing club. Either take part in one of its activities or make progress in any award scheme offered by the group.
Find out and present some information about TWO of the following:
Comets, Meteorites, Asteroids, Northern Lights, Sun Spots, Light Years, Eclipses, Black Holes, Space Exploration.
Observe the moon, using a pair of binoculars or a telescope, and describe some of its features. (Warning: Never look at the sun with binoculars or a telescope, as it will damage your eyes.)
Find out about a career opportunity in astronomy (eg. education, training and experience required). Explain why this profession might interest you.
Note: A Young Astronomy Badge certificate issued by the Singapore Science Centre will qualify for the Astronomer Proficiency Badge.
