The Young Mariner Badge (YMB) is a six-tier programme for Cubs to Rovers, developed in collaboration between The Singapore Scout Association (SSA) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). It aims to engage the Scouts in Singapore’s maritime heritage and inspire interest in maritime careers.
Spanning six levels, the YMB are crafted to suit different age groups, fostering continued learning. The lower tiers emphasise enjoyable and interactive activities to cultivate learning, while the middle tiers aim for a deeper comprehension of maritime subjects. The upper tiers necessitate leadership skills to advocate for the maritime sector. Ventures and Rovers can choose to begin their YMB journey starting from Level 5. The flexibility of this option is to allow the older Scouts to be more engaged according to their age-appropriate activities.
