Using simple diagrams, illustrate what is latitude and longitude.
Demonstrate how a compass works, which includes the difference between magnetic north, true north and grid north.
Demonstrate with a compass how an aircraft can be turned onto various compass headings.
What is magnetic deviation? How does it affect air navigation?
What is an electronic navigation technology such as the Global Positioning System? How does it help an aircraft in its navigation?
Using any free desktop/mobile flight simulator apps available, start to take-off from the default runway, perform a simple left-turn (rectangle route) only flight circuit and return to land on the same runway. Record a video of the entire flight.
On a topographical map/Google Map/Sky Vector, show the following, the purpose of the airport/airbase and its ICAO ID:
(a) Seletar Airport with its designated headings (in degree bearing and compass point) on the runway. What is it used for and for who? Indicate its ICAO ID.
(b) Changi Airport with its designated headings (in degree bearing and compass point) on any of the runway. What is it used for and for who? Indicate its ICAO ID.
(c) Tengah Airbase with its designated headings (in degree bearing and compass point) on the runway. What is it used for and for who? Indicate its ICAO ID.
Given the aircraft's airspeed is 130 knots, work out the actual speed in each of the following conditions:
(a) With no wind at all
(b) With a head wind of 30 knots
(c) With a tail wind of 50 knots
Present your findings in a journal using PowerPoint or Word Doc. Share and present your findings with others in the Troop.
