Use your journal for the following:
Keep a daily journal and write a few lines on good turns you have done for your neighbours or the community you live in each day for a period of 2 weeks.
Print or draw a map of your neighbourhood and mark on your map, the location of your house and the location of the following (nearest your home):
a) Community Centre or Community Club.
b) Post Office Box
c) Fire Hydrant
d) Hospital or Outpatient Clinic or Private Clinic
e) Fire Station
f) HDB Area Office
g) Town Council
h) Police Station or Neighbourhood Police Post
i) Wet Market or Supermarket
j) School
k) A Place of Worship (Church, Mosque, Temple, etc.)
Make a list of emergency numbers including your parents’ workplace, neighbour, Police, Civil Defence, Ambulance.
Make a list of bus services that serve your neighbourhood.
Visit a family of a different race to
a) Take a photo with the family.
b) Find out the number of members in the family (Name, age, occupation and place of work/study) then write a brief description about "My Neighbour".
Set aside about 10 pages of a logbook (can be digital) or several entries in your personal blog for the following:
a) Find and collect pictures from newspapers or magazine cuttings about Community and Family Life.
b) Paste them in the logbook and give a brief description about your articles. If using a blog, you may scan the news or magazine articles, or simply look for online news or magazine articles.
c) Stick a photograph or draw and colour a picture of your family.
Act in a skit, the following scenes:
a) Greeting - greet your friends and teacher when you meet them
b) A happy family
c) Getting along with friends
d) Helping around the house
e) Good neighbours
f) A happy occasion
Choose only ONE assignment from the following:
a) Visit the Community Centre or Community Club near your home.
i) Find out some of the activities and courses being organised including the duration, day and time.
ii) Highlight one activity or course you are interested in joining.
b) Visit a Police Post or Police Centre near your home.
i) Find out how the Police Officers can help you and your family.
ii) Write down what you have found out.
c) Find out about the Residents’ Committee in your neighbourhood.
i) The numbers of members in the Committee.
ii) The names of the important members in the Committee.
iii)Write down how the Resident's Committee serves your neighbourhood.
