Citizenship and Global Awareness
1. Championing Multiculturalism
Attend CultureScope Course by OnePeople.sg. [Updated on 2 Aug 2025]
By the end of the course, you should:
(a) Explain the importance of racial harmony in Singapore.
(b) Explain how you can contribute to racial harmony in your community (e.g. in school, in your Scout Unit).
(c) Learn about how to facilitate conversations surrounding multiculturalism.
Venture Scouts are encouraged to facilitate EiE Basic Courses or participate in similar advocacy projects after completing the Facilitator Course.
Leadership and Interest
1. Leadership Appointment
Complete any ONE of the following
(a) Hold a leadership appointment or role of responsibility successfully for no less than SIX months in the Unit approved by your VSL. You should discuss with your VSL beforehand and record your role, responsibilities, terms of duties, targets, achievements etc and evaluate it with your VSL. Example: President / Vice-President of a club or society, Captain / Vice-Captain of a sports team, Stage Director, Chairman / Vice-Chairman of an Executive Committee, Peer Support Leader, Patrol Leader of a Venture Patrol etc.
(b) Hold at least ONE of the Responsibility Badges: Camp Warden, Fireman, Quartermaster, Secretary, Race Management.
2. Project Leadership
Lead a committee, as either the Chairman or Vice-Chairman, in a project approved by the VSL from conceptualization to evaluation, of which the entire process should take no less than THREE months.
Venture Scouts who have completed the Chief Scout Service Project under the Scout Progress Badge Scheme are exempted.
3. Pursuing Interests II
Attain TWO new pursuit badges of your choice. Discuss with your Venture Scout Leader prior to making your choice.
Adventure and Outdoor
1. Emergency Preparedness Proficiency
Outdoor Attain the Emergency Preparedness Tier 5 Proficiency Badge.
2. Home Economics
Complete the following:
(a) Mend and iron clothing.
(b) Wash, dry and fold clothing.
(c) Plan, budget, market and prepare a meal for four.
3. GPS Exploration
Show evidence of the following:
(a) Ability to understand how a GPS works (theory of operation) and how it pin-points a location.
(b) Working knowledge of the various GPS devices available.
(c) Choose an appropriate device for navigation and situations where appropriate; and compare the use of GPS with traditional navigation equipment.
(d) Exploit the various parameters provided by a GPS device for navigation.
(e) Execute an exploration hike using a GPS application or device.
4. Leading Core Scouting Activities
Plan and conduct a teaching session with a proper lesson plan on Outdoor Cooking or Knotting & Pioneering activity at the Unit, or Area Level.
Venture Scouts who have completed the Core Scouting Activity (Outdoor Cooking or Knotting & Pioneering) at Voyager Award under the Scout Progress Badge Scheme are exempted.
Service and Community
1. Service to Community
Complete any ONE of the following
(a) Perform regular service for at least 30 hours on three separate occasions. The selected community must not be your own unit. It can be related to the Singapore Scout Association.
(b) Support a President Scout Award Candidate’s Service Project (VSSP or RSSP) for at least 30 hours on three separate occasions.
You should understand the needs and challenges of the community and be able to explain the importance of the services rendered to your Venture Scout Leader.
Sports and Physical Recreation
1. Scouting Games
Organize at least TWO Scouting games requiring teamwork during a Troop meeting.
2. Sporting Event II
Train and participate in another Sporting Event. Discuss with your Venture Scout Leader and set a goal to achieve.
If you are participating in a sporting event of a similar nature to the one in your Venture Badge, you should seek to improve your previous sporting event.
Inspirations, Beliefs and Attitudes
1. Literature Review
Read Scouting For Boys by Baden Powell or How to be a Scout by Bear Grylls. Discuss with your Venture Scout Leader on how the book is still relevant today. Record your discussion in your journal.
2. I’m Your Mentor
Mentor a Scout or Venture Scout for at least THREE months. Share with him/her your experiences and perspectives on Scouting, and relate them to the Scout Promise and Law. Share with your Venture Scout Leader the challenges you’ve faced and how you overcame them. The Scout or Venture Scout need not be from your own troop.
Creative Pursuits
1. Creative Pursuit
Complete any ONE of the following
(a) Contribute to your Scout Group or your community with ONE of the following activities in a leading role:
(i) Organise a Scouts’ Own including programme planning and selecting or writing prayers or music.
(ii) Promote a charity or its event through a newsletter, brochure, poster, video, website or mini-exhibition.
(iii) Design a new, or a new way to conduct a Scout activity.
(iv) Design a new pioneering project to overcome a given challenge.
(v) Produce a performance event including conceptualisation, auditions, rehearsals and stage management.
(b) Attain a Creative-themed Tier 5 or 6 Proficiency Badge.
Venture Scouts who have completed Creative Pursuits at Voyager Award of the Scout Progress Scheme should challenge themselves with a larger scope and higher complexity.
At the end of Trekker Award, Unit Leaders should assess that Young Persons should have made significant progress towards achieving each of the following educational outcomes, prior to awarding the badge.
