Criteria (Estimated Completion Time - 6 Months)
Citizenship and Global Awareness
1. Global Issues
Investigate ONE pressing issue that Singapore OR the World faces (Examples include, but are not limited to aging population, tension between locals and foreigners, environmental impact of rapid urban development, climate change, religious conflict, developmental gap, gender inequality etc).
Do a presentation to your Troop on the findings of your research. Suggest how Scouting can help to resolve / alleviate the issue. The form of this presentation may involve role-play, photo collages, video, drawings or PowerPoint. The presentation should include information on causes of the issue, stakeholders involved, different viewpoints presented and possible solutions (if any).
Leadership and Interests
1. Leadership Appointment
Complete any ONE of the following
(a) Hold an area of responsibility within the Troop for at least SIX months.
(b) Hold at least ONE of the Responsibility Badges: Camp Warden, Fireman, Quartermaster, Secretary, Race Management. Before holding the appointment, you should discuss with your Scout Leader on your specific roles and responsibilities as well as your goals as aspirations as a Leader. At the end of your appointment, share with your Scout Leader your key learning points, including how you have developed as a leader, the difficulties you faced and how you overcame them as well as how you would want to further develop yourself as a leader.
2. Pursuing Interest III
Attain another Pursuit Badge of your choice. This badge should not be used to fulfil the other requirements for your Discoverer Badge and Explorer Badge.
Adventure and Outdoor
1. Emergency Preparedness III
Be able to instruct (for Discoverer Award) the Emergency Preparedness Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 Proficiency Badges.
2. Leading Core Scouting Activities II
Play an active role in the planning of Outdoor Exploration / Expedition OR Camp at Troop level.
Sports and Physical Recreation
1. Physical Fitness Goal III
Support and monitor your patrol in their Physical Fitness Goal (for the Discoverer and/or Explored Award). You should discuss with your Scout Leader on how you intend to support your patrol members.
Inspirations, Beliefs and Attitudes
1. Literature Review
Review a speech, movie, book or play that has impacted you and explain how it has shaped your life’s perspective. The theme can be about the environment, education and development, youths, social entrepreneurship, Life purpose etc.
2. I’m Your Mentor
Be a buddy to a junior Scout in your Troop for at least THREE months. Share with him your experiences / perspectives on Scouting and relate them to the Scout Promise & Law. Share with your Scout Leader the challenges you’ve faced and how you overcame them.
Creative Pursuits
1. Creative Pursuits III
Contribute to your Scout Group or your community with ONE of the following activities in a leading role:
(a) Produce a performance event including conceptualisation, auditions, rehearsals and stage management.
(b) Curate an art mini-exhibition including conceptualisation, promotion and site management.
(c) Organise a Scouts’ Own including programme planning and selecting or writing prayers or music.
(d) Promote Scouting through a newsletter, brochure, poster, video, website or mini- exhibition.
(e) Promote a charity or its event through a newsletter, brochure, poster, video, website or mini-exhibition.
(f) Design a new, or a new way to conduct a Scout activity (Examples include, but are not limited to game, problem-solving activity, lesson, etc).
(g) Design a new pioneering project to overcome a given challenge.
