Seamanship & Nautical Skills
(LS-S01) Research on expeditionary learning literature from Kurt Hann on ‘Training For and Through the Sea’ and write a reflection on how the article outlined relevant definition and purpose related to Sea Scouting.
(LS-S02) Understand the origin and importance of SOLAS.
(LS-S03) Plan and execute a Colours / Sunset ceremony.
(LS-S04) Understand the basics of safe powered boat handling.
(LS-S05) Clock total of at least FOUR hours sea time over TWO separate sea sorties as “Officer of the Day”, taking charge of
preparing pre-sortie boat check,
slipping off,
alongside,
MOB manoeuvres, and
after post sortie maintenance. (This is to be done under supervision of a Competent Skipper and within an approved area of operations.)
(LS-S06) Understand the importance of a Float Plan and able fill and file a Float Plan accurately.
(LS-S07) Attain Sea Survival Badge.
Water Sports Skills
(LS-W01) Attain any Level 2 sea sports proficiency/certificate.
(LS-W02) Understand and be competent in executing the Sports S.A.F.E U Guide and relevant guides by SportSG during any outdoor sport activity.
(LS-W03) Present to your troop the rescue protocols according to the 'Drowning Chain of Survival'.
(LS-W04) Understand and be competent in executing an effective Risk Assessment for an water based activity.
(LS-W05) Attained a relevant first aider qualification.
Marine Environmental Stewardship
(LS-M01) Take on mentoring role to help a Scout complete their Environmental Stewardship requirement at the Junior, Ordinary or Able Sea Scout levels.
(LS-M02) Present to your Scouts on at least TWO different types of marine habitats in Singapore Coasts and describe at least THREE types of flora and fauna that can found in each of these habitats.
(LS-M03) Research and understand Singapore’s green shipping initiatives.
Maritime Career Discovery
(LS-C01) Present on various job prospects related to the maritime sector.
(LS-C02) Attain the Maritime Researcher Badge.
