Glass/ Transparency

Artist Statement:

The subject of this photograph is a christmas tree ornaments. To create this photo I held the ornament by a window and had it at 2/3 of the composition. While editing this photo I used the dramatic cool filter on the iphoto app on my phone and I added more light to the image. This allowed the photo to have more contrast and have a blue tint. I chose to create this photo because I liked the look of the dried flowers in the ornament and I think it fits well with the theme of transparency where you can see through the glass to the background. The material I used was my phone camera, I then edited it using the iphoto setting on my phone. The elements of art that I used were shape and texture. The principles of design that I used were contrast and balance. The composition rules/ techniques that I used was rule of thirds. My project evolved because I took many pictures of different glass ornaments that I have and I took a photo looking through the glass, but I liked how this image turned out the best. The meaning behind this image is to look closely at everything so you don't miss anything. This project relates to my life because this is a photo of one of my favorite christmas ornaments. If I could change anything about this photograph I would take a different photo so it would fit better within my concentration.
