Independent Project #3

Artist Statement:

The subject of this drawing is flowers and leaves. The materials I used were photo (light-sensitive paper) and white ink pens. I chose to create this specific drawing because I really liked creating a photogram in photography class, and I wanted to experiment drawing over the top of the photograph. The elements of art that I used were line and texture. The principals of design that I used were contrast and harmony. The composition rule/technique that I used was informal balance. This painting relates to my life because I used what I learned in Photo 1 to create a photogram in the dark room. I really like to combine different techniques I have learned to experiment with new ideas. My project evolved because I started out by inverting and printing the image onto transparency paper, then I used light sensitive paper and developed the photo in the dark room. If I could go back and change anything I would add more depth to the lines.
