wearable sculpture

Artist Statement:

The subject of this artwork is a crown. The materials that I used were wire, super glue and colored cellophane paper. I chose this design because I liked the different colors and how the light refracted through the crown like a stained glass window. The elements of art that I used were shape, color, line and form. The principal of design that I used was pattern in the way that I used the same three colors over and over to create a design. The composition rule that I used was formal balance because the crown is symmetrical with the same number of triangles of each side. The meaning behind this sculpture is to admire and appreciate the beauty in everything. This project relates to my life because whenever I would go to a church I would always admire the beautiful stained glass windows. If I could change anything I would cut away more of the excess cellophane.
