Leaf Art

Artist Statement:

The subject of these three drawings are fall leaves. The materials I used were gelatin prints, colored pencils, india ink, and fine point pens. I chose to make these specific drawings because I wanted to emphasize the intricate details in the veins and colors of the leaves. The composition rules that I used were informal balance. The principals of design that I used were pattern and proportion/scale. The elements of art that I used were color, line, and form. These drawings relate to my life because ever since I was younger I have always loved fall and going outside and playing in the leaves. My projects evolved because for the gelatin print I made lots of prints and then I chose my favorite after experimenting with different techniques. If I could change anything about these works of art I would add more details into the backgrounds.
