Written Reflection:
My work has improved over the semester, at the beginning of the year the digital photographs I created did not really have any skill of knowledge of composition rules/technique that really allowed for my images to become much more interesting. Throughout learning the darkroom process I had to overcome many obstacles, whether it be while taking the photographs themself or during the developing process.
The most challenging part of this class was how to use the film cameras and develop the images in the darkroom. I had a lot of challenges while taking photographs on my film camera. Once I finally had the photos taken I experimented with different apertures and times in order to gain the most contrast and range of values in the final enlarged images.
I am most proud of my artist inspired images and my Christmas darkroom image. The artist inspired images because they took the most time to formulate the concept, are the most creative and turned out the best in the end. The Christmas darkroom image is one of my favorites that I created because it really demonstrates my improved skills in the darkroom and it has a full range of values.
Now that it is the end of photo 1 I feel much more confident in creating more intriguing photographs and in my skill of photoshop editing and taking film photography. I really enjoyed learning all these techniques that I didn't know before taking this class. With the knowledge that I have gained I will now be able to think more consciously about the photos I am taking so that they can be better in the future.
