The assignment was to use a grid to draw a self portrait. First, we printed out photograph and gridded both the picture and the paper to the same proportions. Then we used our knowledge of shading and value to draw the self portrait so that the values would be as close as possible to the original picture. The final product demonstrates that I successfully met the project criteria because I was able to use the lessons we learned about shading and value to create a drawing that I'm proud of and that has a pretty close likeliness to the original photo. I think I did best with the relative values of each section to the photo. I struggled with the facial features and making it look as close to mine as I could. If I were to start over I would pick a new photo and continue to practice my ability to get the likeliness of the person closer.
