Miu Sato is a Japanese composer and orchestrator for film, multimedia, and musical theater, as well as a pianist

A strong believer in the power of storytelling and highlighting underrepresented voices, Miu enjoys incorporating her unique exposure to various cultures and experiences in her works. She is a diligent collaborator that gravitates towards piano and orchestral writing that are shaped by lyrical melodies, bittersweet harmonies, and moving counterlines. She is inspired by composers such as Alan Menken, Michael Giacchino, Theodore Shapiro, and James Newton Howard.

Miu enjoys exploring various sound palettes and working together with collaborators to create a unique immersive experience for screen and stage. Her scores have been heard in film festivals such as the FilmOut San Diego LGBTQ+ Film Festival, Silicon Valley AAPI Film Festival, New York Indie Theatre Film Festival, and San Diego Asian Film Festival. She also made her off-off-Broadway debut co-composing and orchestrating for a new original musical in development titled Neverland Never Ends.
