Hongyu Zhu
Hongyu Zhu started my music journey by learning violin and vocal performance at a young age. At the age of 15 she discovered pop and electronic music and quickly extended her learning to synthesizers, guitar, drum. Her passion for music has led her to record herself and create her own music since a very young age.
By majoring in Composition and Theories of Composition with Electronic Music at the Communication University of China, I immersed myself in a systematic, all-encompassing knowledge of film scoring, composition, sound design, instruments, etc. Her creative process was based on collaboration with the filmmakers. Films reflect the directors' outlook on life, and she's thrilled to enhance their presence on screen with her music. She highlights each important moment of the films and enhances the storytelling of the visual pictures by utilizing musical expressions.
Her work includes soundtracks for the The cage (2020), Best Experimental Short Film of Beijing International Film Festiva short film zero (2021), Bean soup the lamp(2021), experimental animation Headache(2023).
