Derek Geier

Derek Geier is a media composer from Montvale, New Jersey. He has been composing music since the Summer of 2020 and for the past four years has been developing his skills, at first independently, and later through several programs such as his High School's AP Music Theory Course, Music Technology Course, and the Berklee College of Music's Summer.

Over the past four years he had developed a style of experimentation and trying to combine genres to create a unique sound. He like to place an emphasis on creating memorable and distinct melodies supported by extremely dense harmonies combined with key modulations to keep listeners constantly engaged.

He has been practicing his skills as a composer by creating original works in his free time but also creating rescores of movie scenes along with covers of soundtracks, which he posts to his YouTube channel, which recently surpassed 100,000 views across all videos.

His first major work as a composer has been to create a complete OST for the Pascack Hills Theatre Department (PHHS Players); to aid in their production of Qui Nguyen's She Kills Monsters. He is excited to find more opportunities to compose for student films and continue building a career around screen-scoring.
