Christopher (Chris) Lutsker is a composer, pianist, bassist, and dialogue mixer based in Brooklyn, New York. He is currently a student of New York University’s Steinhardt School, progressing towards a M.M. degree in Music Theory & Composition: Screen Scoring. So far during his time at NYU, he composed and performed original music for the documentary "Esperanza" by Maria Cestero and the short animation film "What A Flop!" by Joshua Pyun. Additionally, he worked on dialogue mixing for the documentaries "EACH" by Tristan Smith and "Silent Echoes" by Susanna Calhoun. He works in collaboration with Screen Scoring students Zhi Chen and Rodrigo Ponce Aparicio. His original orchestral work, “Below the Gapstow at Midnight,” was also selected for reading and recording by the NYU Orchestra.
Chris earned a B.M. in Music Composition from Brooklyn College at the City University of New York with a minor in Music Technology, and was awarded a full-tuition merit scholarship under the Macaulay Honors program. At Brooklyn College, he pursued an internship in recording conservatory concerts and editing video and audio in post-production. Additionally, he directed two music clubs within the Honors program.
Chris began studying piano at the age of five. As a performer, he primarily plays upright and electric bass in a jazz, rock, pop, or musical theater context across various venues and ensembles in and around New York City. Chris's music has been recorded and performed by the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the NYU Orchestra, the Brooklyn College Conservatory Orchestra and members of the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, concert pianists including Katya Kramer-Lapin, Olga Kirpicheva, and Konstantin Soukhovetski, tenor vocalist Aaron Humble, and various students of the City University of New York, ACES Educational Center for the Arts, and the Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras.
