Ryan Skarweski is a composer, saxophonist, and arranger specializing in film and media scoring. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Screen Scoring at New York University, Ryan is passionate about crafting emotionally resonant, story-driven music across genres. His work spans live performance, chamber music, and collaborative projects with dancers, visual artists, and filmmakers.
A North Carolina native, Ryan began composing and arranging in high school, where he led his school’s saxophone section and founded a student-run saxophone quartet. He has scored and arranged works for a range of ensembles—including wind bands, orchestras, and soloists—and is especially interested in blending acoustic textures with modern production techniques. His music often explores memory, place, and narrative through bold harmonic language and a cinematic sensibility.
Ryan is an alumnus of the NC Governor’s School for Instrumental Music, where he created interdisciplinary works alongside dancers and painters and studied contemporary composition techniques. He has performed as a soloist with regional ensembles, contributed to theatrical works as a guest artist, and worked in a wide range of musical settings.
Dedicated to supporting storytellers and elevating creative visions, Ryan continues to expand his work in media scoring and composition.
