Matthew Johnson is an award-winning composer, arranger, and singer-songwriter. He specializes in being able to take on almost any genre or style, as he highly enjoys being a sort of “chameleon” composer in order to create the exact sound a director is looking for. He started composing for film while undergoing cancer treatment for a brain tumor in 2021, and has been writing for film non-stop ever since. In 2022, he won “Best Composer” in one festival and “Best Original Score” in another for his work on his second short film, NYU Tisch alumnus Samuel Mitchell’s Last Memory of Spring. To date, he has scored 10 student films, written songs for two student films, composed themes for two podcasts, and composed a symphony and two string quartets. He is always happy to talk about new projects, so feel free to reach out!
