Anping Chen
Anping Chen is a composer based in New York focusing on scoring for films and medias. He is currently a graduate student studying at NYU majoring in Screen Scoring and has graduated from SFCM in Tech & Applied Composition.
Anping has composed for many indie films, games, and commercial projects such as stage plays, light shows, etc. He also has a rich experience in recording live musicians from small to big ensembles. With a great passion to collaborate, Anping desires to work with filmmakers, animators, and all the emerging talents.
Back in his hometown Shanghai, Anping started his music journey by learning Classical and Jazz saxophone. Being fascinated by various composers, he then self-leant electronic music production and formally studied orchestral writing with his teacher in Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Later in his undergrad studies, Anping chose the path in screen scoring and continued to learn it systematically with his mentors.
With a diverse musical background, Anping’s style is blended with orchestral, electronic, and instrumental elements in a unique and recognizable way, and he always relates his music organically with the scenes, driving rich emotion among the audience.
