TABLE OF CONTENTS
OCT Families,
A big thank you to our incredible PTA and our dedicated GLCs for the countless hours of planning, organizing, and supporting all of the Valentine’s Day celebrations. Because of your hard work behind the scenes, our classroom parties were a huge success and truly special for our tigers. Your attention to detail and willingness to step in wherever needed does not go unnoticed. We are so grateful for the partnership we share and for the many ways you support our school community throughout the year.
We would also like to sincerely thank all of our parents and family members who showed up to help make the day memorable for our Tigers. Whether you volunteered your time, donated items, or simply came to celebrate alongside our tigers, your involvement helped create joyful moments that our students will remember. It is always powerful to see our school community come together to make special days even more meaningful.
As we finish our three-day weekend, we hope our students and families enjoy the extra time together. There will be no school for students on Monday in observance of Presidents Day. While students are off, our staff will be on campus engaged in professional development and planning to prepare for our Tigers to return on Tuesday ready to learn and grow.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back rested, refreshed, and ready for another great week!
Best,
Principal Schilleci
NO SCHOOL ON 2/16: February 16th will be a student holiday. Staff will be on campus engaging in professional development and preparing for your tigers to return on Tuesday. Enjoy the 3 day weekend! We will see you all on Tuesday!
OCT TEACHER AND PARA OF THE YEAR: Keep an eye out this week for our new Teacher and Para of the Year. Voting has begun and we will be announcing our winners next week.
BIRTHDAY/EVENT MARQUEE: Our marquee is currently down and we are working on getting it repaired and back up and running. We apologize for the inconvenience.
RAMADAN ACCOMMODATIONS: As we prepare for the beginning of Ramadan, we want to be intentional about supporting all of our students during this important time. If your child will be fasting and may need accommodations—such as an alternative space during lunch or adjustments in PE—please notify your child’s teacher and the front office by February 17.
Mrs. Quinn is available to provide a private, quiet space for students if needed. Our goal is to ensure every student feels comfortable and supported while continuing to fully engage in learning.
SCHOOL START TIME REMINDER: School starts at 7:35. It is important that the students are in their classrooms at 7:35 for the beginning of instructional time. Our staff who are holding doors open have students waiting on them in their classrooms so they will be closing the doors right at 7:35 to get to their students.
Please enter through the front doors at the tiger loop and check in through the front office if you arrive at 7:35 or later. Thank you!
ATTENDANCE REMINDER: If your student will be absent for any reason, please be sure to either submit an Absence Request through Skyward or email Sierra.Salter@gcisd.net directly. There is no need to call the front office.
As we move into this important time of year, it is vital that our Tigers are present at school as much as possible. This is typically when students make some of their greatest academic growth. For our 3rd–5th grade students especially, every single day counts as they prepare for STAAR and other upcoming assessments. Consistent attendance makes a significant difference in student confidence, progress, and overall success.
Thank you for your partnership and support in helping ensure your Tiger is at school, engaged, and ready to learn each day!
Register for CodeWiz Afterschool STEM Camps that Begin Next Week: Attention 3rd-5th grade families: CodeWiz afterschool STEM camps offered by GCISD Extended Learning begin next week at Bransford, Colleyville and Heritage elementary schools. Join Our Bilingual Parent Sessions – February 2026: The GCISD Bilingual Services Department is hosting two parent sessions this month:
STAAR/TELPAS Parent Information Session – Wednesday, February 12, 12:30–2:00 p.m.
In this session, we will explain what TELPAS is, the requirements for reclassification, give an overview of STAAR, and share strategies families can use at home to support their child’s success as an emergent bilingual learner.
Community Engagement Event – Wednesday, February 18, 12:30–2:00 p.m. (rescheduled from January 28)
In partnership with TEA, this session will highlight community events and programs that provide helpful resources and skills for parents, families, and emergent bilingual students.
Both sessions will be held at the JPS Building, 3050 Timberline Dr., Grapevine, TX 76051.
We look forward to partnering with you to support your child’s success.

Snow Hill was a HUGE success! 🎉❄️
This year we decided to switch things up and host the event in the evening—and I think we can all agree it was the perfect call. We had our biggest turnout with around 100 families, including many BES and CES families, which made the night even more special.
A huge thank you to Shaun Smith for pulling off such an incredible event. This was his first time planning a Dads’ Club event, and he absolutely crushed it. We couldn’t have asked for a better night!
Thank you to 1956 Food Truck for serving up some of the yummiest pizza around. We heard compliments all night long—from the quality and efficiency to the beautiful ambiance around their truck. Thank you to Simplified Technology for supplying and installing the lighting. A special thank-you to Girl Scout Troop 1445 (our very own OCT kindergarten girls!) for supplying dessert—such a sweet touch.
We are so grateful for all the amazing volunteers who helped run the hill and the inflatable games, and to all the dads who helped set and clean up. The staff—teachers and administrators—who came out on a Saturday evening to support our kids and families. We just love you guys! So many parents commented on how meaningful that was.
And honestly…that’s what makes our school and community the absolute best.
