ELAR
Hello parents! I am so excited to be your child's ELAR teacher this year. Please click here to read our weekly reading newsletter.
Remember to set a time to read each night at home. Reading at home increases comprehension skills, as well as vocabulary. After reading, ask your child, why do you think the author wrote this book?
Math
Hello Parents! We will start our year off learning financial literacy.
The students will learn different forms of payment, taxes, and incomes.
Homework
More information will be coming in the upcoming weeks. Please check here for the homework assignments in math.
Science
This week in science we will start by introducing the scientific practices, themes, and routines students will be using throughout the year.
We will also review lab safety practices and tools.
We are continuing to use the dismissal procedure called SafeID. This system is more streamlined and much safer for dismissal times. If your child's form of transportation home changes, PLEASE let the front office know by calling or emailing sierra.salter@gcisd.net as quickly as possible and before 2:00.
If a question or concern arises, please contact one of the 5th-grade teachers as your first point of contact. We are here to help answer questions, alleviate concerns, and support you and your child.
In middle school, students will use Canvas for their classes. We decided to utilize this platform this year to help prepare our students for middle school. Parents can sign up as an observer in Canvas. Observers can link their Canvas account to their student's account so they can see assignment dues dates, announcements, and other course content. Observers can view the course content but cannot participate in the course.
