🧮 Math - This week we will begin our next unit of study over decimals.  We will start by looking at other ways we can represent decimals and understanding the place value relationships of decimals.   Then we will look at how to write decimals in expanded form and notation.  In 4th grade math we look at decimals to the hundredths place.

🧪 Science - In Science this week, the students will focus on the conservation of matter.  They will engage in a hands-on investigation, read an article, and participate in activities.  It is important for students to understand that the mass of the matter doesn't change, even when it's mixed together.

📚 Reading: Get ready to step into someone else’s shoes! This week, we’ll explore diary entries to discover how a story changes when it’s told in first-person point of view. You’ll analyze how a character’s thoughts and feelings help us see the world through their eyes — and why authors choose to write that way. Then, gear up for our four rotation review, where you’ll use robots, fly planes, and solve a mystery to show what you know! We’ll finish strong with our Module 3 Test on Friday, October 17th. 

✏️ Writing:  Students will putting together their “SLICE of History” projects! We are so thankful to Marcos Pizza for donating pizza boxes to make this project extra special. Each student will create a log, slogan, coupons, and more, all inspired by their historical figure. Using the Who Was… series to guide their research, students will dig into history while serving up some creativity—just like topping a pizza with all their favorite ingredients! We can’t wait to see their ideas come together in this tasty slice of learning. 

🌏 Social Studies - Unit 3 the "Age of Exploration and Contact" in America! We are going to focus on Spanish explorers this week their adventures, accomplishments and their contributions to Texas. We will also discuss and identify their purpose or reasons for their adventures (the 3 G's) and the competition between Spain and France and their claim for land. This will also lead into to discussing Spanish explorers and their contact with Native American Indians through missions, and how they introduced new religions, cultures and tools to their way of life. It's going to be so much fun and I hope your student tells you all about it!
