ELAR (Ms. Dagger)
This week in reading, we will be performing and writing a play! If you'd like to practice a play at home, here is a link to one. Ask the questions at the bottom of my portion to check your child's understanding.
Please click here to read our weekly reading newsletter.
Remember to set a time to read each night at home. Reading at home increases comprehension skills, as well as vocabulary.
Some questions to ask this week: As we read a play or reader's theatre, how do you know who is speaking? What cludes does the text give you? What are some of the stage directions in this scene, and how do they help us understand what's happening or how the characters are feeling?
Math (Ms. Lee)
The students are working on multiplying and dividing with decimal numbers.
Homework
Due to no school on Monday for the students, the students will need to complete 30 minutes in i-Ready and 3 fluency checks. Please note that for each fact fluency session, the students can only do one per day.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me at anne.hurstlee@gcisd.net.
Science/SS (Ms. Whelan)
In science this week, students will be learning that matter is made up of invisible particles. Just like an air in a balloon, just because we can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there! We will also be learning how to construct models demonstrating how the particles of solids, liquids, and gases look.
In social studies, we will begin Unit 2: Colonial America. The students will learn about the people who discovered America, and what motivated them to do so. We will also be talking about how people's actions have consequences, positive and negative, and how the actions/consequences of these explorers affected America economically and geographically.
Curriculum Night Presentation
Thank you to those of you who attended curriculum night. If you were unable to make it to curriculum night. Here is the link to the presentation.

Chromebooks
Please have your child charge their chromebook each evening and bring it to school along with the charger and headphones.
