ELAR (Ms. Dagger)
This week, we are reading a companion text to Willie B called "The Lonely Gorilla." We will compare the ideas and themes presented in both texts.
In grammar, we will focus on revising and editing passages.
In writing, we will continue perfecting our ECR.
Remember to set a time to read each night at home. Reading at home increases comprehension skills, as well as vocabulary.
Math (Ms. Lee)
The students are working on Unit 9 called Geometry and Measurement. The students will learn how to classify and identify 2 dimensional shapes. They specifically learn how to classify quadrilaterals and triangles. The students will then move into review perimeter and area. In fifth grade, the students also learn how to find volume of a cube and rectangular prism. We finish this unit by learning how to convert measurments using the customary and metric systems.
Homework
The students will need to complete 30 minutes in i-Ready this week along with 3 fluencies.
Your children did amazing on our Math Interim!! I am very proud of all of them. Each child has their own interim plan to work on skills for mastery. They have time in class to work on some of the interim plan but will need at times to work on it at home. Interim Plan Part 1 is due on March 12. The students will begin Part 2 after Spring Break.
