This week we are readjusting to classroom life! We are practicing routines and directions, staying in our spots, completing our work and playing with our friends. It's going to be a great year in ECSE!

Home Extension: Hopefully the back to school routines are starting to be established at your homes. Here are some tips for making the transition go a little more smoothly!
Have a predictable routine. Set earlier bedtimes, morning routines, and talk about what to expect during the day. Pictures are so helpful for children with communication delays. Consistency reduces stress for kids and parents. Let us know if you'd like some help creating a picture schedule/routine to use at home for getting ready for school and after school.
Label everything! Backpacks, water bottles, lunches, snacks, and extra clothes-having a label helps us stay organized and ensures your child's belongings make it back home.
Keep goodbyes short and sweet. It's natural for both you and your child to be emotional, especially in the first few weeks, but a consistent, calm goodbye routine like a hug, smile, and reminder that you will see your child later, helps your child feel secure before boarding the bus or getting out of your car at drop off.
Trust the process! It can take a little time for children to settle in. Some may jump right in, and others need a little more time. Here at OC Taylor, we are ready to help you and your child every step of the way!
Upcoming Dates:
August 19: Pre-K Curriculum Night: 6:30pm. This is a meeting for parents of full day fours only to learn about the routines and curriculum while your child is in the PreK inclusion setting. Your child does not need to attend, but if you have a four year old full day student with PreK inclusion, you may want to check it out!
September 1: Labor Day ~ No School
September 22- Professional Development ~ No School
