Part 1

whole class (several = X 3)

several Burettes containing ethanoic acid (Acetic Acid Glacial )(pure liquid) 2 X Burette in fume
several burettes containing ethanol (No need to be in fume as no flame in Class room) Should be pure ethanol, not IMS(Still work with IMS))
Several burette containing Distilled water
several burettes containing1.0 M HCl have to be accurate.
Cling film
Funnel
marker pen

each student needs :

1 X boiling tube (On student bench)
1 X boiling tube rack

Part 2

Whole class

Phenolphthalein indicator
Plastic pipettes
Marker pens for glassware
box of tissues
0.200 M of NaOH solution (about 200cc per student)
Cleaning tray

each student needs :

Burette (stand, funnel, 25ml pipette, conical flask 250cc, white tile)
1cm3 pipette
pipette filler
Wash bottle of de-ionised water
2 X 100 cc beakers (on for alkali, one for water)
1 X 250 Volumetric flask

NOTE :

Do not use rubber bungs as ester dissolved the bungs
concentration of sulfuric acid and NaOH HAVE TO be accurate
there should be at least a week between part 1 and part 2
