Brady's reagent

Brady's Reagent :

• Wear splash-proof goggles

• Protect bench from stains

• 12-13ml of 85% phosphoric(V) acid with a measuring cylinder

• Measure out about 0.5g of 2.4-DNPH (add 1 ml of water in the bottle if needed. Wipe the inside of the lead when replacing the lid)

• placed used weighing boat with 2,4-DNPH and the  spatula in a beaker with water to clean and drain will full water

• filled 250cc conical flask with 12-13ml of 85% phosphoric(V) acid on a stirrer 

• Add the 2.4-DNPH. It take serval minutes to dissolve

• poured in a 25ml measuring cylinder

• The conical flask is now washed several times with 2 or 3 ml of ethanol

• Ethanol is added up to the 25ml mark and transferred into a labelled bottle for use within a week or two. (Refer to HazCard 30)

• Disposed of the used and the rest of the Brady's reagent into a bucket of water and stir it well

• Pour this down the foul water drain with further dilution
