Water or Distilled water
Empty Chlorine water bottle are kept into the chem. cab. 1 in chem prep.
Method&2: Making Chlorine water Cl2/H2O (ususally make 2 X 200ml bottle for this practical)
Preparation using sodium chlorate(I) solution
Sodium chlorate(I) is supplied as a solution (sometimes called sodium hypochlorite solution).Sodium chlorate(V) is a solid. Check carefully to ensure the correct reagent is used. Sodium chlorate(I) solution (‘10 S 14% w/v available chlorine’) has a limited shelf$life and may not be as active after a year in storage.
Making 200Ml of Chlorine water (Cleapss Method 2 (Chlorine sodium chlorate = Bleach)) Can be prepare directly into a 250ml bottle
20ml Bleach (sodium hypochlorite)
160ml water
20 HCL 2m
Making 100ml :
1. Wear splash-proof googles and gloves. Use a fume cupboard. DO NOT inhale the gas.
2. Place 10 Cm3 of 10-14%w/v available chlorite sodium(I) solution(Bleach) conical flask
3. add 80 cm3 of water
4add 10cm3 of 2M Hydrochloric acid. stir well.
5. dilute to a suitable volume with more water 100ml
