Each student require :

• 2.0 cc of methyl benzoate (Step 1)

• 10 cc of 2.0 M NaOh  (Step 1)

• 10 cc Ethanol  (Step 1)

• 10 cc of Methyl orange indicator  (Step 1)

• 20 cc of 2.0 M HCl  (Step 1)

• Distilled water  (Step 1 and 2)

• 50 or 100 cc round bottomed flask (Quick fit)  (Step 1)

• Anti-bumping granule  (Step 1)

• 3 X 10 CC measuring cylinders  (Step 1)

• Water filter condenser and rubber tubing (Quick fit) + Vaseline + Adapter   (Step 1)

• Bunsen burner, Gauze  (Step 1)

• Stand and clamp  (Step 1)

• retort ring (Quick fit plastic ring)  (Step 1)

• 250 cc beaker  (Step 1)

• Stirring rod  (Step 1)

• Spatula (Step 1 and 2)

• Glass pipettes (Step 2) [To be cleaned in boiling water in a large beaker on Bunsen : boiling water dissolve the chem]

Access to : 

• Vacuum filtration apparatus (Butcher filtration and filter 7B3) For Step 1 and step 2

• Boiling water (Kettles) for step 2

• Balances for step 2

• Melting point apparatus with capillary tubes for step 2 

• Sample tube (Specimens tubes) Always to weight Organic

• Chemical from Step 1

• 3X Bunsen burner  + HPM (use with melting point to melt capillary tubes) (Step 2)

• Marker pens
