usually practical take 2 classes  : Fist oxide (with all the kit electrical...), then Chloride (without the electrical apparatus and Demo)

DEMO (Step one only as required)

• sodium  metal to be demo by teacher (Ask First)

• phosphorous red to be demo by teacher (fume cupboard) (Ask First) (rinse with water when cleaning)

• chlorine gas to be demo by teacher (See Making Chlorine gas) Ask First (keep overnight in Yellow cabinet)

• magnesium metal to be demo by teacher (Ask first)

• Silicon metal to be demo by teacher (Ask first)

• Sulphur (Ask First)

• 4 X test tubes and rack

• Distilled water

• Full range indicating paper and solution

• sample of the following oxide in 150 beakers           :

•                                                                                          NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide),

•                                                                                                  MgO (Magnesium Oxide), 

•                                                                                                  Al2O3 (Aluminium Oxide),

•                                                                                                  SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide)

•                                                                                                  P2O5 (Phosphorus pentoxide) In fume

• Spatulas for beakers

• Dilute HCl 1Mol. 1 bottle

• Dilute NaOH solution 1 Mol. 1 bottle

• Teste tubes, bungs and  Test tube holder

• Universal pH paper

• Distilled water

• simple apparatus to test electrical conductivity (Step one only):

•                         4 X power pack (blue)

•                         2 X carbon electrode + leads (X3 each) and croc clips (test connectivity S and Si)

•                         10 cm Magnesium ribbon (test connectivity)

•                         10 cm aluminium foil (test connectivity)

•                         4 X 12V bulb

Step C in the second Class :

• Sample of the following Chlorides in 150ml beaker : (Need 2 or 3 fume cupboard all chloride in fume)

• Bunsen burner, Heat-proof mat in fume cupboard (Step C)
