Making 2M HCl from conc. HCl

86mls of HCl to 1Litre Distilled water or tape water (source from Laboratory solution red book) = 1Litre of 1mol.

For 2L of 2mol. in working fume Cab.

• Gloves

• 2L conical flask fill with water to about 1500ml

• large glass measuring cylinder with mark at 344ml

• Beaker to pour Conc.acid to measuring cylinder

• 344ml of Conc. HCL (Close back the Conc. acid after each use)

• pour 344ml of HCl in to the water filled conical flask, clean any drop with paper towel (rinse it with water before putting it into the bin at the end)

• add till 2 L , mix and rinse all equipment with water to dissolve any conc.acid left

• fill up the 2L plastic bottle (Marked and labelled)

• Rinse all equipment with tape water in the  fume cab to avoid fume and dissolve any left over acid.
